I've met people, and had good dates using the site, as a paid member. Being in the same boat certainly takes the pressure off. It is like any Internet dating site, there are a few weird people and some who are not honest with their (old) pics/body size.
I didn't like that you can't hide your photo as a standard (free) member, and no real activity with winks and such. You have to message people, otherwise it's quiet.
Lately, many members have not logged in the past month so the profiles are seemly stale, and not many people on the site in my city of 1.5 million people. I would just get a 1 month membership to try it.
In summary, I would recommend Positive Singles to a friend.
