I tried it for three months; problem I have (and you will have if you fit under this population) is that the member base (especially for HPV) is very small. Also good luck meeting anyone local (I'm in Long Beach and the closest of my matches was in Palm Springs). Never met anyone through this service and only chatted with one person using the chat feature. ~$60 for an online chat and no dates is not worth it in my experience (would've been better off putting the money on a roulette wheel betting black).
Other thing that was 'clunky' with the site was that I couldn't download my photos, since they didn't fit the 200x300 or whatever restriction. I'm not real big on digital photography and resolutions and whatnot, so I had to email my photo and pay $5-10 to have someone on their end make it fit.
On the positive side, you won't get spammed with "someone wants to meet you" emails, like you would with match.com.
Overall, just another in a long line of disappointments I've had with online dating sites.
In summary, I would not recommend H Mates to a friend.
