Date Positive is a UK-focused STD and HIV/AIDS-positive dating site that has been helping UK singles find love since 2006. One of the few sites in this category that is focused entirely on the UK market, Date Positive is the largest site of its kind in the UK, with more than 6,000 members active and using the site to find love and friends. Safe, secure and completely anonymous (if that’s what you want), Date Positive is a comfortable online community where we’re sure users will feel completely at home and able to open up to other users in order to get to know them better. 

Joining this site is quick and straightforward, with users being able to get their profile up and running in a matter of minutes.  Once you have a profile, you can search through the other profiles on the site using the excellent search tools, which allow you to trim down the search results based on a number of specific criteria (see above for all of the details).  Your own personal mailbox makes it easy to get in touch with other users on the site, without ever having to give away your personal email address and the ability to send “flirts” (like “pokes” on Facebook) add to the fun.

One of the features we were most impressed with was the “Ask the Expert” feature. This brings the expertise of Dr Laurence Gerlis (from London’s SameDayDoctor) to the site, where users can get advice on sexual health and the management of their conditions. Dr Gerlis is presently medical advisor to the Financial Times, a media doctor with the BBC and Channel 4 and medical consultant to the Royal National Theatre, so you’re definitely in safe hands!

We couldn’t give Date Positive a full and frank review without commenting on its outrageously cheap premium membership fees. The site quite rightly comments that premium membership is cheaper here than at any other major site in this category and it comes in significantly lower than that at many other sites we have reviewed, including PositiveSingles, and PozMatch. At just £3.99 for one month’s membership and £8.99 for three months, membership of Date Positive will cost you less than a cup of coffee on a per-month basis. We don’t know how you feel, but we’d rather have a life-partner than a cup of coffee…

While Date Positive is the largest UK-based site in this category, we would suggest our users check out the site to find out where users are based to see whether there is a critical mass of users if your local area. Other sites, such as PositiveSingles (and its partner site, Positives Dating), while not being UK-only options, have a large contingent of UK-based users (far more, in fact, than Date Positive). As such, it’s worth checking in advance which site the STD singles in your area have joined (otherwise, how will you meet them?)

We would definitely recommend checking out what Date Positive has to offer – while it isn’t the largest site in this category, it is the largest offering only UK members, which some of our readers are likely to find appealing. What’s more, at a very reasonably £3.99 per month or less, it’s worth joining this site even if you do so alongside other sites you like in this category.
