STD Friends Reviews

STD Friends is an online dating community devoted to helping singles with STD’s find love and happiness with others online.  Users of STD Friends suffer from many common sexually transmitted diseases and this online community provides those people with an outlet to chat with other sufferers, meet them, get to know them and perhaps take their relationships further.

STD Friends is free to join, with users being able to tap in to many of the site’s best features without ever having to pay a penny. This makes STD Friends a great site to join if you’re new to online dating (either generally or within this particular niche), so if you’re interested in joining STD Friends, read on to find out more about this site.

Joining STD Friends is easy (although it may take a while to have your profile approved – see below), with members being able to create their own profiles with the site, complete with photos and as much information as they wish to share.

The site operates in much the same way as social networking sites like Facebook, with members being able to “friend” another user to establish a connection with them and receive updates on changes to their profile. Similarly, users can leave comments on other members’ profiles and also leave comments on photo galleries hosted on users’ profiles too.  

Finally, users can manage their interactions with other users on the site by keeping blocked lists and favorites lists, which helps users keep track of those they have spoken to on the site. 

STD Friends offers users a number of additional features that are particularly useful for sufferers of STDs. First, users can read articles and information about their illness, about STD care and testing locations nearby, as well as user advice for managing symptoms, using the STD information section on the site.

Users can also search through users based on a number of factors, including which illness they suffer from. Finally, the site’s active messageboards and chatrooms provide users with an opportunity to chat with other users about their experiences, share support and advice and generally get involved with a supportive online community. 

While we generally liked STD Friends, we thought a few elements of the site let this site down. When we joined the site, it took a long time for our membership to be approved (over 48 hours) meaning we had to wait a while before we were able to access the site.

Our other gripe is the cost of this site – at almost $80 for 6 months membership; this site is more expensive than many others we have reviewed in this category and given that the membership base at this site is much smaller than the larger players (such as Positives Singles or Positives Dating, for example), we think the price might put some prospective users off.
