I have joined a couple of different H sites and was not too happy. The prices were either out of this world or there were basically no members on the site. I just joined HMates and I am very happy so far. The website is very 2012 and user friendly unlike others out there. It is also nice to see many choices out there for dating that other sites lacked. I have already contacted a couple people that are very intriguing. The prospect of talking to people around my age is very exciting. The people double my age on other sites were nice, but it wasn't helping me in the dating aspect.

The owners of the site seem to take it serious which is a good thing. And it is free! How can you beat that? I originally wanted to just see the site and check it out. I quickly wrote down some nonsense to just join the site. I was denied and I'm happy I was. I then took the time to fill out a serious profile and then became a member. So, you won't see... I love messaging and chatting with guys from other cities and states. The opportunity to travel somewhere for a date with someone who understands what you are dealing with and doesnt judge you is very romantic. I can be myself, I dont have to worry about their reaction once I tell them my condition. They know all of it before they ever contact me!!

The features of the site allow you to experience a flirtatious type courtship. You can send and receive virtual kisses, do live chat, messaging or video. You get a great description of their likes, dislikes, hobbies, career, what they are looking for... etc because profiles have to be fully completed before they are approved.

And guess what..... NO NAKED PICS !!!!!!! I am not looking for sex and I dont have to page through hundreds of naked pictures because those are reviewed before they are posted. :)

This site doesnt make me feel like having an STD labels me as some sexual freak. I want a long term commitment and I am allowed to seek that on here.

I'm a 35 year old Male that was diagnosed with HSV2 about a year ago after using a well known dating website. Having used the Internet to get me into this "situation", I decided early on that I was going to use the internet to get me out of it. Soon after my diagnosis I found myself on HMates. It was nice to find a community of people that were dealing with some of the same issues as myself. It doubled as a way to meet potential dates as well as additional support.

Having used several other dating websites, there were many features HMates offered that stood out for me. Setting up my profile and uploading profile pictures was very easy. There were many questions about what I like and what I'm interested in which I've found are a great as they've come up in conversations I've had with potential mates and have acted as "icebreakers". I tried it for three months; problem I have (and you will have if you fit under this population) is that the member base (especially for HPV) is very small. Also good luck meeting anyone local (I'm in Long Beach and the closest of my matches was in Palm Springs). Never met anyone through this service and only chatted with one person using the chat feature. ~$60 for an online chat and no dates is not worth it in my experience (would've been better off putting the money on a roulette wheel betting black).

Other thing that was 'clunky' with the site was that I couldn't download my photos, since they didn't fit the 200x300 or whatever restriction. I'm not real big on digital photography and resolutions and whatnot, so I had to email my photo and pay $5-10 to have someone on their end make it fit.

On the positive side, you won't get spammed with "someone wants to meet you" emails, like you would with match.com.

Overall, just another in a long line of disappointments I've had with online dating sites.
